Healthy Futures is a growing movement calling on governments to prioritise good health for all, in partnership with leading UK charities including Save the Children, Action Against Hunger, RESULTS and many more.
We believe that regardless of who we are or where we are born, we all deserve access to quality health services and protection against threats to physical and mental health.
Yet all over the world, billions are still denied opportunities like giving birth safely, accessing medicines for treatable diseases and having the information to lead a healthy life.
This is a critical moment to show that the UK Government is still committed to the international goal of quality essential health services for everyone, everywhere. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 120 countries are reporting disruptions to non-communicable disease services including diabetes, asthma, cancer treatment and cardiovascular emergencies. Other research warns that disruptions in sexual and reproductive health service provision could lead to 168,000 more new-born deaths, 29,000 more maternal deaths and 3 million more unsafe abortions.
